Range Riders Archive Digitization
A two-year project to digitize and publicly host the Range Riders Museum's photographic archive of Eastern Montana ranching families.
Awarded May 2025 · $24,500 · Range Riders Museum · Charitable · Cycle 73 · May 2026
Over two years, the Range Riders Museum will digitize roughly eight thousand photographs documenting ranching families in the Pumpkin Creek, Tongue River, and Powder River drainages from the 1890s to the 1950s. Each record will be cataloged with place, date, and family-name metadata, then hosted on a public research portal so scholars and descendants can contribute corrections.
